Opportunities for Service at Bethany:


Church Council - is charged with executing the policies of the congregation as set forth by the constitution and voters assembly. This is accomplished through officers and committees.

Elders Committee - promotes spiritual life and growth of members through home visitations, etc.

Stewardship Committee - promotes a God-pleasing program of personal stewardship of the use of time, talents and possessions of the members in the work of the church.

Evangelism Committee - studies skills and techniques of personal evangelism, and arranges for the welcoming of visitors and new members.

Worship Committee - assists the Pastor in the arrangements of public worship, such as choir, music, organists, ushering, placement of flowers, preparation of service folders, care of Communion and Baptism vessels, care of linens and paraments, care of church nursery, and maintenance of order during the worship services.

Finance Committee - develops and promotes the Biblical principle of the management of our time, talent, and money, representing a faith response to God's love.

Shut-In Care Committee - Members of this team agree to visit one or more elderly/shut-in persons periodically throughtout a year. Home visits are encouraged, though some contacts may be made by phone. The number of visits may vary from once a week to once a month for support, encouragement, friendly conversation, and to assess if there are obvious needs the church staff may be able to meet.

Dorcas Committee - to help see other members through a short-term need (non-crisis) for meals, home support, transportation to appointments, etc.

Called Worker Care Committee - assists district CWCCs in assisting parish CWCCs, and in planning and conducting district training programs.

School Board - supervises the entire educational program of our Christian day school.

Youth Fellowship Committee - provides spiritual growth, fellowship, and service projects for the youth of the congregation, and oversees the Sunday School.

Ladies' Guild - Bethany ladies who have voluntarily joined together for mutual Christian purposes. They are dedicated to fellowship, Christian growth, service and foreign missions. All women of our congregation are invited to join with us to serve our Lord Jesus through the Ladies' Guild.

Senior Choir - All confirmed members are welcome. Practice is once a week. The choir enriches our worship Sept-June, 2-3x per month,and participates in events such as the Area Reformation Festival and Christmas caroling.

Greeters/Welcomers - Church families/individuals take turns throughout the year to greet people and assist visitors before and after Sunday worship services.

Boosters Club - provides school activity support, monthly meetings during the school year.

Crafting/Scrapbooking/Stamping Fellowship - meets monthly or as arranged.

Lutherhaven - Bethany is one of eight congregations owning this Christian recreation and Bible camp facility, located on Wildcat Lake in Bremerton. It exists to provide spiritual inspiration and wholesome recreation for the young and old. During the summer months, Lutherhaven is open to members Monday through Saturday (10 AM to dusk). Thursday evenings June-August Bethany members gather for boating, barbequing, volleyball, swimming and evening devotion. To find out more about Lutherhaven, click here.
